Local authorities in Kedarnath have requested devotees to avoid travel during heavy rainfall. This comes after the meteorological department issued an alert for heavy rainfall in the region. The authorities have requested people to avoid travel as heavy downpours can cause stones to fall on the travel routes at many places. Therefore, for safety purposes, the authorities in Rudraprayag have cautioned the pilgrims.

According to a Business Standard report, the Sub-District Magistrate of Rudraprayag, Ukhimath Anil Kumar Shukla, has requested the pilgrims to be careful while travelling to Kedarnath. He has asked the people to start the journey only after obtaining proper information about the weather from the local administration and the meteorological department. Furthermore, he has asked people to start the journey only after contacting the District Disaster Management Office for the latest updates.

As per the authorities, there is a possibility of stones falling at places like Chirbasa, Gaurikund, and Lincholi on the Kedarnath route. Also, there is a possibility of stones falling near Doliya Devi Temple on the Rudraprayag-Gaurikund National Highway due to heavy rain, as per the Business Standard report. That’s why the authorities have asked people to travel with caution.
