Kenya Witnessed 93.2 Per Cent Increase In Indian Tourists. Have Ranbir-Alia Something To Do With It?

A large number of Indian tourists are thronging to Kenya in the post-pandemic world. Impressively, the East African country witnessed an increase of around 93.2% Indian tourists in 2022, as compared to 2021. The number of Indian tourists to Kenya had drastically dropped due to the COVID-19 pandemic to just 42,159 in 2021 from around 1.20 lakh in 2019, as told to media by Irene Katumo, the Regional Marketing Manager of Kenya Tourism Board.

But is it just the spectacular forest cover of Kenya that is drawing the tourists, or is it the Ralia effect? Let’s find out.

More Indians Are Travelling To Kenya Now. Is It Just The Jungles Or Ralia Effect?

Before tying the knots in April 2022, lovebirds Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt had visited Masai Mara to spend a lavish holiday in the jungles. Alia had also taken to her Instagram account to share pictures of lions and giraffes from the jungles. Lisa Christoffersen, who was the couple’s luxury safari curator in Kenya, had also posted a picture with the two. And Alia has proven time and again that she has a special place in her heart for Africa. And why not? Ranbir had proposed to her for marriage amid the jungles. She posted pictures of lion pride during the important events in her life, from pregnancy to motherhood.

It’s a known fact that whatever the stars do influences the masses. The African tourism board is taking a slew of measures to get back tourists from India. While Kenya was already a popular and mystique spot loved by travellers, it started trending even more because of Ralia. Kenya is home to world-famous national parks with the most unique ecosystems, like the Nairobi National Park, Amboseli National Park, Tsavo East National Park, Hells Gate National Park and Masai Mara National Reserve. Other intriguing spots to visit in the East African nation include Mount Kenya, Karen Blixen Museum and Giraffe Centre.

Kenya Is Taking Steps To Boost Tourism

Meanwhile, Kenya is putting its best efforts to get the maximum number of Indian tourists with initiatives like road shows, participation in travel trade shows like the OTM fair and marketing campaigns. A road show has already been conducted in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad. Similar roadshows in Bengaluru and New Delhi will also follow. The nation is also taking steps to boost connectivity to make Kenya an all-weather tourism destination.
