Many tourists fly down to India to visit Kerala and witness its natural beauty. Recently, World Travel Mart in London awarded Kerala Tourism with the prestigious Responsible Tourism Global award. Kerala Tourism Awarded In London
State Tourism Minister P A Muhammed Riyas accepted the award on behalf of Kerala Tourism in London. He received the award on behalf of the entire department and expressed his happiness. He said that this award will act as an encouragement for the Kerala tourism sector.
Kerala Tourism bagged this award for their project, “STREET,” which was implemented by the Responsible Tourism Mission under the Kerala Government. Riyas was accompanied by P.B. Nooh, the tourism director, and K. Rupesh Kumar, the responsible tourism mission coordinator.

About The STREET Project
The STREET is a project implemented in the tourism sector for water conservation and protection with public participation. STREET stands for Sustainable, Tangible, Responsible, Experiential, Ethnic, and Tourism Hubs. For tourism activities, the project aims to deepen canals and other water bodies.
The banks of the water bodies are draped with coir cloth, which helps in preventing erosion. The cloth is made out of coconut fibre and is known as “Coir Boo Vastra.” Riyas said that the jury made special remarks on the project executed in Kottayam district’s Maravanthuruthu. He posted a video message announcing the prestigious win.
