by Curly Tales Desk

In this episode of Festivals of India, presented by Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, Siddharth Aalambayan travel from Assam to Kerala to experience two culturally rich and completely distinct New Year celebrations – Rongali Bihu and Vishu. Bihu in Assam with Celesti Bairagey In Sivasagar, the cultural heart of Assam, Siddharth celebrated Bihu with Celesti Bairagey and experienced the festival like a local: ● Performed the high-energy Bihu dance with traditional troupes capturing a super steady POV shot using the Super steady with horizontal lock on Galaxy S26 Ultra, even during intense rhythmic movements. ● Witnessed the grand celebrations at Rang Ghar with performers from across Assam. ● Celebrated Goru Bihu, honoring cattle with rituals and gratitude. ● Just before joining the Husori troupe, he used Galaxy AI’s Photo Assist to add Sreejith into the frame – creating a memory with Celesti & Sreejith together. ● Joined Husori troupes as they spread blessings from home to home ● Competed in the fun yet intense Koni Juj (egg fight) ● Experienced the beauty of Mukoli Bihu in open fields ● Indulged in an authentic Assamese festive feast and even learned the recipe of very famous 101 xaak Vishu in Kerala with Sreejith From the vibrant fields of Assam, we travelled to Kerala to celebrate Vishu with Sreejith who is a content creator and bringing out the beauty of Kerala through his lens and his family: ● Explored a 250-year-old traditional Kerala home. ● Witnessed the sacred Vishu Kani at 4am, the first sight of the New Year symbolizing prosperity – beautifully captured using pro video, bringing out rich detail even in the dark. ● Experienced the tradition of Vishu Kaineettam, receiving blessings from elders ● Indulged in prepping the Vishu Sadya feast with the family, even learnt to make Payassam, Mampazhappulissery and Olan. ● And finally experienced the grand Vishu Sadya with 20+ dishes served on banana leaves. Two Festivals, One Emotion: While Bihu is vibrant, energetic, and community-driven, Vishu is calm, spiritual, and deeply rooted in family traditions. Two different cultures, two different celebrations – yet both come together in celebrating new beginnings, gratitude, and prosperity.
