Jaisalmer is a hotspot for sandstones and is therefore called ‘Golden City’. In addition to this, there is a majestic city palace situated right in the middle of the city which is made of sandstone. And when the sunrays fall on this gorgeous architecture, it looks like everything is made of gold. The Sonar Qila of Jaisalmer houses shops, hotels, and ancient Havelis, making it the only living fort. In these ancient havelis, royal families continue to live. And one-fourth of the city’s population continues to live in the fort.

A few kilometres away from the Sonar Qila is Patwon Ki Haveli which took sixty years to build. There are beautiful carvings on the walls of this haveli which gives it a majestic look. At forty-five kilometres from the city, there is a little village where you can experience authentic Rajasthani cuisine.
