Komalika Bari, Third Indian To Win Gold Medal At World Archery Youth Championship

Komalika Bari, a 17-year-old youth made the country proud by winning a gold medal at the World Archery Youth Championship in Madrid. She is also the third Indian to bag this medal and create history. She defeated Sonoda Waka from Japan in a one-sided final to bag the title of recurve cadet world champion.

Deepika Kumari won this title in the year 2009. After defeating Sonoda Waka by 7-3, Komalika Bari became the second Indian (under 18) to get this title. “I’m feeling very nice because I won the World Championships. It’s also because of my coaches, they are very important,” she expressed, reports NDTV Sports.

Sharing her experience of the final shot she said, “I was just breathing very deeply so the tension went away. I told myself ‘be confident, be confident and you will be the champion” reports NDTV Sports.

Creating history, this Jharkhand born archer was appreciated on a global level. Social Media has welcomed her with love and respect, and have also mentioned what an eccentric archer she is.

Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, who is the Member of Parliament from Ladakh also put up a post on twitter appreciating her concentration. 

India won a bronze in the compound junior men’s team event and a gold in the compound junior mixed pair event. Komalika Bari is an inspiration worldwide, being able to achieve the world championships title at such a young age. The youth of this country will look up to her and what she has been able to achieve.
