Tired of watching neverending Manyavar, Vicco Turmeric ads and trailers at the movies? Well, say no more! PVR INOX will soon offer ad-free films at theatres in metropolitan cities. In order to combat the decline in movie theatre footfall, PVR INOX has cut down the ad-time from 35 minutes to 10 minutes. Here’s more to it.

According to a report by Moneycontrol, top multiplex chain PVR INOX has come up with a new product to stop the decline of footfalls in cinemas. A weak box office collection of movies has terribly affected the theatre business in India. Even big-budget films from the Hindi film industry have failed to garner the attention of cinephiles and fill the theatres Many have delivered sub-par performances since the beginning of 2024.

So, cutting down the length of ad slots from 35 minutes to 10 minutes is PVR INOX’s answer to increasing theatre footfall. This way, the multiplex chain can add extra shows. Chief of The Luxury Collection and Innovation, PVR INOX Limited, Renaud Palliere threw more light on the matter. He stated that the time saved on each show would give them room to add another show during the day. This will result in additional footfall at theatres. Moreover, additional admission will ensure there is an increase in food and beverage revenue.

Before the feature film begins, the audience can watch a few movie trailers. During the interval also, they will not be shown commercials. Only trailers of upcoming movies. However, some brands like Pepsi and Coke will be visible during the reduced break time. Palliere stated to Moneycontrol that this ensures the audience can focus on products for which they are coming to the cinemas in the first place.

This new product by PVR INOX isn’t available across all 7 luxury properties of the multiplex chain in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and other metropolitan cities. Audiences can check out this ad-free content at PVR INOX’s premium formats like Insignia and Director’s Cut. The multiplex has received feedback that there is a higher recall value for ad-free movies is higher recall value. The advertising loss will be compensated with additional footfalls from adding one more show.
