London Peeps Are Being ‘Actively Discouraged’ From Visiting These Iconic Landmarks On New Year’s Eve

London is the most sought-after destination for Christmas and New Year travel worldwide. This is because the city has something for everyone to enjoy. From the iconic and free Christmas lights in the West End to the ice skating at Battersea Power Station and the charming Christmas markets along the Southbank, London has it all. But this year, people in London, including tourists, are being ‘actively discouraged’ from visiting some iconic landmarks.

New Year’s Eve fireworks in London are among the best in the world, with enormous glittering bursts along the banks of the Thames. In addition to the six designated viewing locations, crowds swarm to various locations in an attempt to catch a clear, cost-free view of the spectacular.

The Tower Bridge and London Bridge have been extremely congested in the past. Hence the residents and visitors to the city have been advised to avoid them this year.

The City Bridge Foundation is “actively discouraging” people from attempting to view the performance from the Southwark, Millennium, and Blackfriars bridges. It is also discouraging people from visiting the two landmarks, because of safety concerns.

It probably wouldn’t even be worth the journey if you were hoping to secure a position there. In addition, Tim Fletcher, the foundation’s media manager, stated: “People will get a terrible / nonexistent view of the fireworks from there due to the bend in the river and tall buildings such as the Shard.”

Mayor Urges People to Enjoy New Year In London

Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, is urging residents and guests to take advantage of everything the city has to offer on New Year’s Eve, as there are only a few days left until the capital welcomes 2024.

The best option to watch the legendary fireworks display without a ticket is to celebrate at one of the amazing nightlife locations in the city or to watch it on TV via BBC iPlayer. Tickets for the mayor’s world-famous fireworks display are currently sold out.

London is getting ready for New Year’s Eve celebrations, and some of the activities that will be available are river cruises, live music events, theatre performances, late-night theatre, visits to museums after dark, eating out, and street food. (As per TimeOut)
