Far from your average dinner party, it is an intimate monthly supper club that offers your chance to dive into authentic vegetarian cuisine from Karnataka, especially from the coastal town of Mangalore. With only 10 guests per evening, this meal is personal and heartfelt and feels like being invited to a friend’s home – if that friend happened to be an exceptional home chef with roots in one of India’s most delicious culinary regions.
The menu served at Handful of Flour’s supper club is a three-course celebration of Karnataka culinary richness. All made from scratch with care and passion, the evening starts with a welcome drink, which is a refreshing cocktail or mocktail. The starter is usually a Masala Dosa, Rasam Vada, or Idlis, served with two homemade chutneys.
The mains feature comforting dishes like Onion Uttapam, Bisibelebath, Beetroot Sambar, etc, served with rice and papad. The meal ends with rich and delicious desserts like Kesaribath and Payasam. To highlight the variety of Indian cuisine, the menu is occasionally changed, but everything is vegetarian and unapologetically strong in flavour.

A Taste Of Coastal Karnataka In The Heart Of London
Rather than reinventing Indian food for British palates, this supper club values authenticity and aims to preserve the original flavours of Karnataka cuisine. Here, you eat like the locals do, with your hands on a banana leaf. Filled with warmth and a feeling of community, the supper club is also about presenting the Indian culture.
The hosts don’t just serve food; they also serve stories. With each course, you hear the tale behind the dish, often rooted in Prarthana‘s memories of growing up in Mangalore. While the evening may start as a room of unfamiliar faces, it often ends with shared laughter and connections over candlelight and chutney.
Whether you live in London or are visiting, this supper club is a hidden gem that shouldn’t be missed. For every curious foodie or Indian cuisine enthusiast, Handful of Flour’s supper club is an experience that fills the stomach and the heart.
