Your next international trip might just depend on whether you follow traffic rules or not. In order to control the number of traffic violations in Ludhiana, the police has launched a campaign to keep a check on violators.
What Is It?
The embassies of Canada and Australia have been asking for list of violators from India, specially for those who have been applying for long-term visas for the respective countries. The Ludhiana Police Commissioner was reported as saying, that all the data with respect to violators and the offences committed has been stored in a digital format. This data can easily be shared with the concerned authorities, as and when required.

He was further reported as saying, that since a lot of people from the region end up applying for long-term visas, they are trying to use this as a tool to deter traffic rules.
What’s More?
One of the biggest reasons to take such drastic measures is because of the state of road safety in the area. The National Highway passes through the city, which is one of many reasons that is leading to increased number of accidents and incidents related to road safety. As per the data revealed by the authorities, it was reported that in 2018, 328 people were killed in 477 road accidents. That’s not all. Around 32,759 challans were also issued within the first seven months of 2019.
