According to an article recently published in The Times Of India, this incident took place near the Ghanta Ghar area of Punjab’s Ludhiana. The customer in whose biryani the worm was found is named Ashok Kapoor. The incident happened on the 25th of August, Friday.

Kapoor has eaten from the dhaba before but this has never happened. The TOI article said that Kapoor and his partner started puking soon after they started eating the biryani. When they checked the biryani, they found a worm in it.

When they reported this to the dhaba owner, however, the owner started to misbehave with them. Following this, the food safety department was informed. Officials from the department soon reached the spot and started investigating the manner.

Upon investigation, Satwinder Singh, who is the food safety officer, and his team found that the food being served at the dhaba was being cooked in unhygienic conditions. The dhaba was therefore given a challan.

According to the Dhaba owner, however, the customer who ordered the veg biryani returned to the dhaba complaining about the worm after two hours with an open plate. The insinuation here, as per the TOI article, is that maybe the man put the worm in his food himself.

This is not the first time such an event has happened in Ludhiana. In a separate event, a dead rat was found in a gravy served in a Ludhiana restaurant.
