“Koi Zarurat Nahi Hai Independent Hone Ki,” Frustrated Lawyer Rants About Expensive Mumbai Rentals Of ₹50-70K

Mumbai is one of the most expensive cities to live in, not just in India but in the entire world. Many people struggle to find affordable housing in the city that is close enough to their workplace that it doesn’t take two hours just to travel. Many people have taken to social media in the past to rant about the high price of housing and cramped living spaces. Recently, a lawyer, too, shared her frustration about expensive real estate.

“Maa Baap Se Bana Kar Rakho,” Says Lawyer On Expensive Mumbai Real Estate

Finding a house or an apartment in Mumbai that is worth its expensive price tag is a challenge. Recently, a lawyer took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared her frustration with the real estate scene in Mumbai.

She talked about how even 1 BHKs cost a whopping ₹50k to ₹70k! She went on to say that “aap maa baap se bana kar rakho bhai koi zarurat nahi hai independent hone ke liye ghar se bhaagne ki.”

Loosely translated, it means, make sure you and your parents get along well. There is no need for you to leave your home to become independent. The implication is that instead of abandoning your house, it is better to stay at home than coming to Mumbai and wasting money on real estate.

Netizens Recommend Alternative Relatively Cheaper Localities

Many Netizens were quick to provide recommendations for areas that they thought were cheaper. The lawyer responded to these recommendations by saying that she has been living in the city for around six years and was not in need of recommendations.

In a follow-up post, she also said that cheaper rent doesn’t always mean better, especially in Mumbai. This refers to the kinds of locality that may not be safe for women or might not be well-connected by public transport.

Many other commenters enthusiastically agreed with her sentiments.
