Omkareshwar, the temple town in Madhya Pradesh will soon be home to a 108-foot-tall statue of Adi Shankaracharya, an 8th-century Indian scholar and teacher. Omkareshwar is a renowned temple town that has one of the 12 Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. The statue named “Ekatmata Ki Pratima” (statue of oneness) will be inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on September 18. Read on to know more.

Madhya Pradesh To Unveil Adi Shankaracharya 108-Ft Statue On Sept 18

According to a report by NDTV, Omkareshwar is undergoing a transformation. The spiritual hub will turn into a significant hub for Advaita Vedanta philosophy. Helmed by the teachings of Adi Shankaracharya. It has the aim of attracting tourists from across the world who practice this philosophy, many developments can be expected here.

The first one is the 108-foot-tall majestic statue of Adi Shankaracharya. The statue built atop the Mandhata mountain in Omkareshwar is part of the first phase of this development project. Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) where you can see the beautiful statue under construction, overlooking scenic lush green landscapes.

Omkareshwar To Turn Into A Spiritual Hub For Advaita Vedanta Philosophy

Adi Shankaracharya, who originates from Kerala travelled to Omkareshwar after becoming a sanyasi at a very young age. He stayed in the spiritual city for four years under the guidance of his guru Govind Bhagwadpad. The Indian Vedic scholar is believed to have travelled the country at the tender age of 12. He carried the teachings of the Advaita Vedanta philosophy.

In his caption, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan shares that the 108-foot-tall statue of Acharya Shankar along with the other upcoming developments will honour the teachings of the saint. Moreover, he goes on to add that in the future, the spiritual hub will house Advaita Lok. This is a museum diving into the depths of Advaita Vedanta. There is also a research institute for in-depth study into the philosophy. Also, Advaita Lok, a beautiful lush green forest area spread across 36 hectares is another headline.
