Which Four Pedestrian Foot Overbridges Are Closed In Mumbai?
The four bridges closed by Central Railway are located in the Masjid and Matunga areas. As per Free Press Journal, IIT Bombay inspected the four bridges in Mumbai and found that their structure is not safe for people to walk on. Based on this report, the BMC has asked Central Railway to close all four bridges. No one will be allowed to use these FOBs or walk near them.
The FOBs that are closed are:
- Bhandari FOB at Masjid Station
- Masjid Station FOB
- Matunga Level Crossing FOB on Bhau Daji Road
- Matunga-Dadar FOB near Gurunanak High School
As per the report, the structural parts of these bridges showed signs of wear and tear and corrosion, making them unsafe for use. It would be better if these bridges were demolished and reconstructed.

No One Allowed Near These Bridges
The BMC took this decision as Mumbai is gearing up for Ganeshotsav. During this festival, massive crowds often gather near railway stations. So, keeping these bridges open could put their lives in danger. Passengers will not be allowed to walk on or go near these bridges.
Mumbaikars have been asked to cooperate with the authorities and follow the safety instructions. With this closure authorities aim at managing the huge festival crowds and ensuring their safety around the stations.
