The government of India has reportedly decided to launch Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojna on 1st January 2023. Under this scheme, the government gives seniors the privilege of undertaking their pilgrimage by air. Also, Usha Thakur, the minister of tourism and culture, has announced that they will operate 10 new trains for pilgrims.
New Trains For Teerth Darshan Yatra
According to reports, from 17 September 2022, on the occasion of prime minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, five new trains of the Teerth Darshan Yatra will also run on the tracks. Under that, about 5,000 senior citizens will take part in various pilgrimages. There are also plans to operate five more trains on November 1, 2022, to commemorate the Madhya Pradesh Foundation. Thakur said about 150 trains will run on the track in the coming months in order to facilitate pilgrimages for the elderly across the state.
Ms. Thakur shared that Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan initiated the pilgrimage and that he is committed to promoting a culture in which the sector is making every effort to realize its vision. Thakur also added that Adiguru Shankaracharya built four dams so that pilgrims could visit them and achieve virtues. Senior citizens and children traveling alone can now opt for dedicated service at Mumbai international airport for hassle-free travel.
The Pilgrimage Will Begin From Balaghat
Dwarka Somnath Yatra will leave from Balaghat railway station on 17th September coinciding with the birthday of PM Modi and will return to Balaghat on 23rd September. This special train will carry 300 passengers from Chhindwara district at Pandhurna station and 325 passengers from Betul district at Betul station.

Who Is Eligible To Undertake This Pilgrimage?
Seniors aged 60 and over who are no longer income tax payers to the Government of Madhya Pradesh can participate in the pilgrimage. Nevertheless, residents of Madhya Pradesh have the opportunity to undertake this pilgrimage at their own expense. Please note that those who have undertaken teerth darshan in the past, will not be given the chance to travel again under this scheme.
