The Amravati Airport will change the face of travel for the Western Vidarbha region. The area has no direct flights to major cities and this new airport in Belora will improve air connectivity tremendously. This airport is part of the Government of India’s regional connectivity scheme UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik).

Amravati Airport’s construction and operationalisation have been spearheaded by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC). The airport was initially developed by the Public Works Department in 1992. However, it remained non-operational for public use. MADC has now revamped the airport with an extended runway and other upgrades to meet licensing requirements.

According to the Times of India, Alliance Air will operate flights between Amravati and Mumbai on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The flight will depart from Mumbai at 2:30 PM and land at Amravati at 4:20 PM. On the return journey, the flights will take off from Amravati at 4:50 PM and land in Mumbai at 6:35 PM.
