The federal and state governments worked together to develop the plan, which focuses on improving transportation options, modern infrastructure, and pilgrimage facilities. With the approval of ₹7,410 crore of the total amount, a massive transformation project has started.
According to Free Press Journal, Dr Praveen Gedam, Chairman of the Kumbh Mela Authority, and Shekhar Singh, Kumbh Mela Commissioner, shared that the focus is on making this Kumbh Mela not only spiritually enriching but also comfortable and safe for the millions who will visit.
To make sure everything runs smoothly, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will head a special high-level committee that will monitor all the work being done. The on-ground preparations and coordination will be managed by Kumbh Mela Minister Girish Mahajan and the Kumbh Mela Authority.
The development plan gives top priority to infrastructure, as the city gets ready for an estimated crowd of millions of devotees. The state government has approved ₹5,140 crore for the first phase of development and another ₹2,270.61 crore for roads alone.
A few major areas getting a huge boost include:
- ₹3,016 crore for internal roads, bridges, sewage treatment, CCTV networks, and fire safety systems.
- ₹750 crore for the Water Resources Department to improve ghat areas and lift irrigation systems.
- Major roadworks, airport upgrades, and railway improvements will also completely change the city’s connectivity.
The funds will also be divided among key projects like National Highways & Other Road Works, Nashik (Ozar) Airport Development, Development of Eight Railway Stations, Ramkal Path Project, Sadhugram Land Acquisition, Trimbakeshwar Sewage & Wastewater Project, Power Substation Setup, and the Archaeology Department, Free Press Journal reported.
Preparing For Millions Of Devotees

Every twelve years, the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela is one of the most sacred events in Hinduism. Ramkund in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, the location of one of Lord Shiva’s twelve Jyotirlingas, attract millions of devotees, sadhus, and tourists who come to bathe in the Godavari River.
Given the scale of the event, the government’s goal is to ensure clean water, better sanitation, safety, traffic management, and technology-enabled services to manage the enormous crowds smoothly. As per the report from Free Press Journal, officials said that this time, there will also be more green spaces, upgraded ghats, better waste management systems, and modern lighting.
Beyond the religious aspect, this huge development push will also help Nashik’s long-term growth. With the start of the massive ₹25,055 crore plan, Nashik is ready to take centre stage on the international stage.
