For this super fun Sunday Brunch episode, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, stepped into Window Seat, the office of Imtiaz Ali, the man behind some of the most amazing movies in Bollywood. Curly Tales not only met the filmmaker but also Vedang Raina and Sharvari, the cast of his upcoming movie Main Vaapas Aaunga.
Imtiaz Ali Opens Up About His Love For Travelling
Imtiaz Ali’s movies are not just about romance but also portray stories of self-discovery and internal journeys, which is why the filmmaker is considered one of the best in Indian cinema. For this latest Sunday Brunch episode, Kamiya Jani met Imtiaz Ali, Vedang Raina and Sharvari Wagh. The episode kicked off with Kamiya asking Imtiaz the reason behind the name of his office, which is called ‘Window Seat’.
Without thinking much, Imtiaz Ali said, “Window seat makes you glimpse into a life that is not your own.” Which, according to us, is beautiful. The interiors of his office looked not just antique and rustic but also something we usually do not see in other offices. Imtiaz Ali’s office has that lived-in look which no modern office can compete with. In between conversations, Imtiaz Ali shared that many people in the film industry are “dreamers”, which is why they vibe with each other a lot. He also shared that before getting into making movies, he tried working in marketing and advertising, but was not really successful.
We all know that one common trend in Imtiaz Ali’s movies is travelling. Many of his characters take trips to solve their life problems. On being asked this, Imtiaz simply said, “I loved travelling even before being a filmmaker.” The filmmaker also added that travelling fascinates him.

A Punjabi Feast Featuring Chole Kulche, Phirni & More
In this Sunday Brunch episode, Imtiaz Ali also shared that he loves travelling because he could be anyone in a place where nobody knows him. According to him, it is also “An accessible way of entertaining oneself.” And honestly, we agree. This is the reason why travel is quite an important part of all his movies.
Curly Tales also asked Vedang and Sharvari about one Imtiaz Ali movie that made them want to work with the filmmaker. For Vedang, it was Rockstar, and for Sharvari, it was Jab We Met! Since it was Sunday Brunch, how could it be complete without amazing food? The conversations continued over a feast of Punjabi food. The spread included gol gappe, kulche choley, phirni, gulab jamun, and so much more! After a lot of honest conversations, we also played a game of Never Have I Ever before ending the episode.
