5 GCC Updates For You

1. UAE Alerts Residents About Using ‘Flying Tiger Cups’ Over Safety Issues

The UAE’s Ministry of Economy and Tourism has taken back some 220ml glass cups sold by Flying Tiger because tests showed high levels of lead and cadmium in the outside print. The cups that were sold in 2024 and 2025 could be bad for people’s health. Officials have told people to stop using the products right away and get rid of them safely. The ministry said it will keep an eye on products on the market to make sure they meet safety standards and that protecting consumers is still a top priority.

2. Oman Unveils Its First Visual Communication Centre

During the Arab Week for the Deaf, Oman opened its first Visual Communication Centre for people who can’t hear. The “Nafith” app powers the platform, which helps almost 17,000 people connect with government and private organisations through sign language interpreters. It also has services like booking interpreters, a news site in sign language, and help with making places more accessible. Officials say that the new version of the Nafith platform, which was first launched in 2018, makes it easier for deaf people to get to daily services and gives them more independence.

3. Qatar’s Metrash App Has A New Feature To Pay Traffic Fines For Other Vehicles

A new update to Metrash lets people in Qatar pay traffic tickets for friends and family directly through the app. Users can settle “Other Vehicle Violations” by entering the vehicle plate number and the owner’s QID number. This feature can be found under “Traffic Services” and then “Violations.” After that, users can quickly and easily choose the payment amount, the method of payment, and finish the transaction with just a few taps.

4. Saudia Airlines Collabs With Adidas For New Airport Fashion Line

Adidas and Saudia have released a new line of travel-inspired clothes called “Made to Fly” in the Middle East and North Africa. The range, which came out on April 20, is all about comfortable airport fashion because more and more people see flying as part of their lifestyle. Aquarabia, the biggest water theme park in Saudi Arabia, will open on April 23. The attraction is in Qiddiya City and has more than 20 rides in different themed areas. Some of the best parts are the record-breaking slides and the first underwater adventure ride in the area, with cars that can go all the way under.
