Abu Dhabi City Municipality Is Enhancing Pedestrian-Friendly Infrastructure
This project is a part of the Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s wider effort to enhance the urban infrastructure. Not to mention, it aims to improve the quality of life and encourage walking. As mentioned in a report of the Gulf News, the project covers 25 pedestrian bridges, 16 staircases, 46 elevators and 38 pedestrian tunnels. Moreover, it serves thousands of residents and visitors every day. These facilities are managed through a performance-based operational system. They have been designed to ensure efficiency, reliability, and longer sustainability.
A Safer & More Convenient Experience For Pedestrians
With the project to offer a safer and more comfortable experience for pedestrians, this is being done by carrying out regular inspections. Not to mention, preventive maintenance and continuous monitoring is also being done for the infrastructure. The municipality’s efforts aim to reduce risk associated, which are associated with crossing busy roads. The aim is of connectivity between residential areas and public facilities.

Dubai To Get 31 More Pedestrian Bridges
Not just Abu Dhabi, but Dubai is also doing its share when it comes to improving pedestrian infrastructure. Yes, recently, it unveiled two new pedestrian bridges on Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Mina Street, which are under the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project.
There are even plans by the Dubai RTA to build 31 more pedestrian bridges by 2030.
