Mohamed Alabbar shared a video of Dubai Mall Plaza & Hotel on social media. This is basically another project, which is coming soon to the Downtown Dubai shopping district. As can be seen in the Instagram visual, the plaza-style development features pedestrian areas, illuminated architectural elements, and Burj Khalifa in the background.
For those who are not aware, this comes after Emaar announced an AED1.5 billion expansion of the Dubai Mall back in 2024. Although the investment value and the opening date have not yet been announced for Dubai Mall Plaza & Hotel, the group is continuing to expand this major shopping landmark in the Emirate.
Plans To Add 200+ Luxury Retail & Dining Outlets Through Expansion
Gulf News, in its report, mentions that the expansion of Dubai Mall, which was announced in mid-2024, includes plans to add 240 luxury retail and dining outlets. It should be noted that the developer even provided details for the district, which is an expansion that would feature 279 outlets. There would be 198 stores and 81 food and beverage establishments here. In fact, the expansion towards Grand Drive would cover 4,40,000 ft.² of gross leasable area. The target for completion of this project is the second half of 2028.

Emaar Recently Also Announced Skylight Mall
However, it is worth mentioning that there is no confirmation on whether the latest teaser of Dubai Mall Plaza & Hotel is a part of the expansion or if it is a separate development. Notably, Emaar also revealed recently that they’re developing Dubai Square at Dubai Creek Harbour back in December of 2025. The developer had even announced that the project would feature 2.6 million square metres of mixed-use space.
Just recently, Emaar also announced the Skylight Mall, which is coming up on Al Khail Road. This upcoming project is scheduled to open in 2027 and would feature 360 stores. Spread across 1,300,000 ft.² of gross leasable area, it is going to serve residential communities of Jumeirah Village Triangle, The Springs, and Jumeirah Islands.
