Getting to and from an Etihad Rail station is about to feel less like a puzzle. Etihad Rail has partnered with Citymapper, Via and United Trans so that train journeys can be planned alongside metro, bus and on-demand transport in one app.

What Citymapper Will Show You

Open Citymapper and you can view and compare routes that stitch an Etihad Rail leg together with the metro, buses, on-demand rides and other options. Instead of checking a rail timetable in one place and a bus route in another, the whole door-to-door plan sits on a single screen.

Booking Stays Where It Is

Tickets haven’t moved. Passengers still book and manage rail journeys through the Etihad Rail website and app. Citymapper is for working out how you’ll reach the station and where you’ll go once you arrive, not for buying the ticket.

Why Now

The partnership follows the official launch of the national passenger network on 30 September, with services running across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Dhaid and Fujairah. As more people take the train, the first and last mile become the real test of how useful it is.

What The Partners Say

Adhraa Al Mansoori, Executive Director of Commercial and Support at Etihad Rail Mobility, said planning a train trip should feel simple and fit naturally into the way people already travel across the UAE. Chris Snyder, Chief Operating Officer at Via, said passengers increasingly expect transport networks to work together as one experience.

Via and United Trans already run on-demand public transport in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ajman, which is the experience they are bringing to this integration.

What It Means For Your Commute

The stated aim is to cut the complexity of a journey, improve accessibility and nudge more people towards public and shared transport. In practice, that is most useful for anyone mixing modes: a metro ride to a station, a train to another emirate, then a bus or on-demand ride for the last stretch.

Connections Are Already Taking Shape

Around the network, other links are appearing. Sharjah has launched three new bus routes connecting Al Madam, Al Sajaa and Sharjah to Al Dhaid Etihad Rail Station, and Dubai has a new pedestrian bridge between its Etihad Rail and Metro stations. With Citymapper now in the mix, those connections should be easier to find before you leave home.
