If you’ve been waiting to renew your Indian passport or get a visa/attestation done in the UAE, here’s what changed this week and how to actually get it done right now. Starting July 2, 2026, the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indian Consulate in Dubai are offering limited passport, visa, attestation, and other consular services directly from their premises on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis.
Indian Passport Services In UAE: New Walk-In Rules Announced As Alhind Takeover Delayed
This is a temporary fix after the planned handover to the new outsourcing partner, Alhind Tours and Travel LLC, was delayed based on reporting from Gulf News. The UAE’s Indian consular services were originally set to fully transition to Alhind Tours and Travel LLC, replacing long-time providers BLS International and SGIVS Global, from July 1. That transition has now slipped by a day due to administrative reasons on the mission’s end. Rather than leave applicants stranded, the Embassy and Consulate stepped in to offer limited walk-in services themselves while the handover is finalised.

Timings: Walk-in services are available from 9 am to 12:30 pm at both the Embassy (Abu Dhabi) and the Consulate (Dubai).
How it works: No appointments; it’s strictly first-come, first-served.
What to bring:
- A completely filled-out application form
- All required supporting documents
- Exact cash, as fees are being accepted in cash only for now, and change may not be available on-site
Who can enter: Only the applicant is allowed inside the premises to manage crowding; the one exception is a parent accompanying a minor applicant.

Fees Have Also Gone Up
Separately, passport-related service fees were revised UAE-wide effective July 1, 2026, and the new rates apply consistently across the Embassy, the Consulate, and the upcoming Al Hind-run Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs). If you haven’t checked the new fee structure yet, do that before you go, carrying the wrong cash amount could mean a wasted trip.

Is This Permanent?
No, the Embassy has been clear that this walk-in arrangement is a stopgap. Once Alhind’s Indian Consular Application Centres are fully operational across all seven emirates, this walk-in-only phase will end. Until then, avoid third-party sources and rely only on the missions’ official channels for updates, since details are shifting day to day.Â
