Every Mumbaikar has that one food spot attached to a memory. A place that isn’t just about the food, but about who you were with when you ate it. For Govinda and his family, that place is Haji Ali Juice Centre. On the latest episode of Tere Gully Mein, Tina Ahuja took us through some of the food spots that shaped her childhood. While the conversation began with Mumbai’s iconic street food and family favourites, it soon turned into a trip down memory lane at the magical Haji Ali Juice Centre!
Why Govinda’s Family Is Obsessed With Haji Ali Juice Centre
As soon as the famous mixed cream fruit salad arrived at the table, Tina Ahuja didn’t hesitate. “They have the best cream fruit salad. You guys have to try it,” she said, adding that nobody does it quite like this place. Thick, creamy and loaded with fruit, it’s the one dish she keeps coming back for. But what makes the fruit salad special isn’t just the taste.
Tina revealed that a large part of her childhood was spent in South Bombay, something many people don’t know about her. Growing up, she would often visit Mahalaxmi Temple and nearby churches with her mother, Sunita Ahuja. Those outings came with a fixed ritual.
The tradition became so regular that it eventually turned into a family affair. Tina shared that after visiting Mahalaxmi Temple, her mother would often get multiple portions packed, not one or two, but sometimes 10 to 12 packets at a time, for family members, staff and everyone back home.
Even today, nothing has changed much.

Tina Ahuja Gets Nostalgic
And it isn’t just Sunita Ji who’s obsessed with it. When we joked that the entire family seems to survive on Haji Ali’s fruit cream, Tina quickly agreed before adding another name to the fan club: “My dad also loves it.”
The stop also brought back memories of family outings with Govinda. Tina remembered a night after attending a concert when she, her father and actor Shakti Kapoor’s son Siddharth Kapoor ended up at Haji Ali Juice Centre together. The group arrived after the event and tucked into ice creams and fruit salad, creating one of those small moments that somehow stay with you for years.
For visitors, Haji Ali Juice Centre may be a famous Mumbai landmark known for its fruit creams and milkshakes. For the Ahujas, however, it is something etched in memory. It’s the place where temple visits ended, family cravings were satisfied, and childhood memories were made, one bowl of cream fruit salad at a time.
