Yesterday, July 9th, marked the final day of the UAE’s 30-day grace period for travellers affected by regional travel disruptions, and anyone who hasn’t yet regularised their status or left the country needs to act before the deadline passes.
UAE’s 30-Day Visa Grace Period For Regional Travel Disruptions Ends

The grace period was introduced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) last month, running from June 10 to July 9, 2026. It applies specifically to visit visa holders, exit permit holders and residents whose visas had been cancelled but who were unable to leave the UAE because of airspace closures and flight suspensions that disrupted regional travel from February 28th this year.
Back in March, the ICP had waived overstay fines entirely for anyone stranded by the disruptions, which stemmed from wider regional tensions involving the US, Israel and Iran. With flight schedules now back to normal and stability restored across the region, the authority has been winding that exemption down. This 30-day window was positioned as the final opportunity to sort out immigration status before standard enforcement resumes.

What Eligible Travellers Could Do During The Grace Period
- Regularise their status — through residency amendments, employment visa sponsorship, or other recognised visa pathways
- Depart the UAE — without facing any overstay penalty, using standard exit procedures
Importantly, the ICP confirmed that beneficiaries didn’t need to submit any fresh application for either route; the exemption applied automatically to anyone already covered under the March waiver.
From today, that cushion disappears. Anyone who hasn’t adjusted their status or departed can expect normal overstay consequences to apply, with fines accruing daily until the situation is resolved.

Immigration consultants say the response has been mixed: some affected travellers have already secured jobs in the UAE and are using the window to convert their visa status, while others without a path to stay are booking flights out ahead of the cutoff.
