Somehow, in the middle of peak summer, with a Super El Niño supposedly throwing heat in the region, the UAE has decided to throw in a few days of actual rain. And it’s a relief for the residents and tourists. 

What NCM Is Actually Forecasting For UAE Rains And Climate

According to the National Centre of Meteorology, the rain that hit last week is carrying through into this week and is expected to continue until Thursday. Afternoon showers are forecast across the east and south, with some inland pockets catching drops too. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are looking at highs of 46°C with occasional cloud cover. Meanwhile, Fujairah’s sitting cooler at 37°C but with heavier rain and more cloud. Wednesday and Thursday keep the theme going: partly cloudy in Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with the capital’s mercury climbing to a genuinely startling 48°C by midweek and Dubai at 45–46°C.

Rain And 48 Degrees? Yes, Really

It sounds contradictory, and it is. The showers are localised and often brief, not the kind of sustained rainfall that cools things down for long. So you can get drenched at 4 pm and be back to sweating by 5.

The Precautions NCM Wants You To Actually Read

  • Drive with extra care in the rain, as braking distances change fast on UAE roads
  • Stay clear of flash flood zones and areas where water’s visibly pooling
  • Avoid open or elevated ground during lightning and thunder
  • Watch for downdraft winds; they can send loose objects flying and cut visibility with little warning
