Millionaire Sells His Private Jet After Learning Its Environmental Impact; Compares It To Cocaine Addiction

It is high time that people start acting to save our planet. While there are individual efforts that one can take, like drinking from paper straws instead of plastic straws, we need to do more. Recently, a millionaire gave up flying private and is selling his private jet after learning how incredibly negative it is for the environment. He justifiably calls the act of flying via private jets selfish and will now fly commercially.

After learning about the immense negative impact of flying via private jets, millionaire Stephen Prince decided to give it up. According to a Business Insider article, he first started flying private six years ago. At one point, he had three private jets.

The experience of flying private, for him, was so amazing, that he went as far as to compare it to being addicted to cocaine and even said “Don’t do it unless you’re ready to get addicted to it.” He also said that flying private jets spews just as much carbon into the atmosphere as flying first class on any commercial plane.

But where private jets would only be transporting one or two people at a time, commercial flights transport way more than that. He, therefore, calls it “incredibly selfish” for a few people to do such kind of harm to the planet. Prince also said that he is currently discussing the sale with his brokers.

We all want to do our bit in saving the environment. However, it is important to understand where most of the harm to the environment is coming from. Ultimately, some of the major harm done to the environment comes, not from regular people, but from people who use large amounts of resources regularly.

And these people are more often than not, millionaires and billionaires who are often involved in industries that harm the environment for profit. Furthermore, their practices like flying in private jets lead to an immense amount of carbon emissions. Using metal or paper straws when billionaires and millionaires fly private would be like putting a band-aid on a fracture.
