Ministry Of Tourism Introduces New Adventure Safety Guidelines To Prevent Mishaps

People from all over the world are coming to India, and a big reason is the adventure. Adventure tourism in the country is constantly growing, drawing travellers from across India and internationally. Along with rising rates of tourism injuries, the Ministry of Tourism has set up stricter rules to make these experiences safer and even more exciting. Scroll down to know more!

Adventure Tourism Safety Rules Tighten In India

On February 2, 2026, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat told the Lok Sabha that the State Governments and Union Territory administrations are responsible to develop and promoting adventure tourism. As per Travel Trade Journal, they also need to make sure that the adventure sites are safe, convenient, and well-equipped for visitors.

To make India a top choice for adventure travellers from around the world and ensure safety, the Ministry of Tourism has launched a National Strategy for Adventure Tourism. The plan aims to create new adventure spots, improve safety standards, train professionals, and promote adventure tourism through focused marketing and skill-building programs.

More About These New Rules

The Ministry of Tourism is making adventure tourism not just thrilling, but safer and smarter. According to Travel Trade Journal, one cool step is the Responsible Adventure Tourism Guide Courses, run at regional offices with the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI). These courses train guides on safety, emergency response, and eco-friendly tourism, basically making sure your adventure is as safe as it is exciting.

Safety is a big deal, so the Ministry and ATOAI have also rolled out Adventure Safety Guidelines. Think of these as the rulebook for all adventure operators in India. Every State and Union Territory has received them and is encouraged to tweak its own safety rules to match.

States and Union Territories are keeping a close eye on adventure activities. Operators must follow the safety playbook and have the proper licenses. Authorities are on the lookout to make sure your adventure is fun without unnecessary risks.

With these steps, India is making sure adventure tourism is organised, exciting, and safe. From training guides to setting strict safety standards, the country is levelling up its adventure game—ready to welcome thrill-seekers from around the world.
