Monday has come with a lot of news updates. Instead of jumping from one news link to another, we have compiled the most important updates in the ‘City of Dreams’, Mumbai. It is obvious that the city is one of the most happening places in the country. From Chor Bazaar closing down to a brief halt in flight operations at Mumbai Airport, here are some of the most important news updates that you need to know about the financial capital of India.

Monday Morning Brief: Latest Mumbai Updates

1. Mumbai Airport To Tomorrow For A Few Hours

On October 17, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport or the CSMIA will halt flight operations for a few hours. From 11 AM onwards, maintenance work for both runways, RW 14/32 and RWY 09/27, will be closed till 5 PM. This means that between these hours, no flight operations will take place.

2. Mumbai-Pune Expressway To Close Down For An Hour

Today, the carriageway towards Pune will remain closed from 12 PM to 1 PM. This will be done in order to install gantries at two points on the bridge. Both of the gantries will be located near the Aadoshi Tunnel in the Bhor Ghat Section.

3. Mahalaxmi Temple To Have Multiple Entry And Exit Points

Given the high number of footfalls in the Navratri season, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or the BMC has launched the ‘Holistic Pilgrim Facility.’ Under this facility, the famous Mahalaxmi Temple will have multiple entry and exit points. A footpath measuring six metres in width and 300 metres in length has also been built to better manage crowds. Recently, Madhur Bhandarkar visited this blessed temple.

4. Chor Bazaar To Lose Its Old World Charm Soon

According to an article recently published by The Free Press Journal, the iconic Chor Bazaar located in the heart of South Mumbai will be transformed soon. As part of the Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust or the SBUT’s upliftment project that stretches across 16.5 acres, one lane consisting of 122 shops has been dismantled. They will be moved to a high street shopping complex of two floors. It should also be noted that the rest of the chor bazaar has remained untouched so far.

5. India International Travel Mart, Mumbai

The India International Travel Mart or the IITM was held in Mumbai from October 12 to October 14 in Worli at the Nehru Centre. The event witnessed more than 150 exhibitors. What is more, over 10 overseas countries and 20 Indian states participated in the event.

6. More Than 900 Travellers Arrested

Between October 5 and October 11, the Railway Protection force cracked down on unauthorised travelling in Mumbai Locals. According to an article recently published by Mumbai Live, around 730 people were arrested for travelling in coaches for Divyangjan. Around 200 passengers were also arrested for travelling in Ladies’ coaches.
