Monsoon Updates: No Relief In These Indian States; Heavy Rain, Flash Floods Predicted By IMD

As we know, several Indian states are currently facing very heavy to very heavy rainfall. Himachal Pradesh, on the other hand, faced lashing rainfall, which led to flash floods. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather report and warning for the next five days in the country for several states. According to it, states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Odisha might not get any relief from the heavy rains.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that a cyclonic circulation has been seen over northwest Madhya Pradesh and its surrounding area. The cyclonic circulation is forming a low pressure area (LOPAR) over the Bay of Bengal off the coast of Odisha. It continues to bring rainfall to the affected states. 

It has also warned hilly regions of Maharashtra and Odisha of possible landslides. The department also mentioned the possibility of waterlogging in some places. 

Gujarat and Maharashtra might witness very heavy rainfall in isolated places in the next five days. Till Saturday, Mumbai will continue to witness extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas. Schools will remain closed in Palghar and Thane, Maharashtra, till Saturday. The ones in Pune’s Khed, Purandar, Maval, Ambegaon, Junnar, and Mulshi talukas will also be closed on Friday.

Himachal Pradesh Warned About Flash Flood Risk

Gujarat has been put on orange alert’ for Friday and might receive heavy to very heavy rainfall as per IMD. 

LOPAR might bring in heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state of Odisha until July 24. According to the forecast, another LOPAR might be created on July 24. IMD has asked Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Koraput, Kalahandi, and Ganjam to take measures as landslides are expected. 

Himachal Pradesh might witness heavy rainfall in isolated areas until July 24. Schools in Kinnaur district will remain closed until July 22. The weather update also mentioned flash flood risks in Chamba, Kullu, Sirmaur, Mandi, and Shimla.  

The eastern areas of Rajasthan might witness heavy rainfall until July 24. A two day holiday has been declared for educational institutes and government offices in Hyderabad until Saturday. This comes after the place receives an Orange warning.  (As per Hindustan Times)
