If we list down the industries that have been worst affected by the coronavirus pandemic, travel would definitely be on the number one position. To contain the spread of the virus, countries all over the world have sealed their borders either fully or partially. According to Zurab Pololikashvili, UNWTO Secretary-General, “COVID-19 has impacted travel and tourism like no other event before in history.”
Travel Bans And Restrictions: Global Scenario
About every country in the world has some form of travel restriction now. As per Pew research, around 93 percent of the global population now resides in countries and territories with travel restrictions. The whole of Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East have imposed travel restrictions since January. Latest reports of UNWTO say that about 96 percent of travel destinations have become ‘off-limits’ to the tourists. The restrictions include a complete or case-wise ban on people entering the nations. Either no foreigners are permitted to enter a country, or they are allowed on the basis of the place they are coming from. Countries are taking up other measures as well like quarantining incomers, ordering self-isolation or cancellation of visas.

But whatever be the circumstances, the governments have to anyways put the public health first. The authorities across countries are trying their best to reduce the number of global cases and ease the travel constraints as soon as possible.
