Mumbai: Dadar’s Platform 10/11 Soon To Be Revamped To Ease Commuter Congestion On Existing Platform

After the enlargement of Dadar’s busy platform, the fast train platforms 10 and 11 will be transformed into a double discharge platform. By doing this, passengers would be able to board local trains from either side, which would reduce traffic on the current platform. Optimising current resources for optimal efficiency is the aim. Here’s more about the plan and how it will help relieve congestion for commuters.

In response to a series of articles published by Midday that highlighted the difficulties the railway police were having controlling crowds at the small slow-line platforms in Central Railway Dadar, Rajneesh Goyal, the Mumbai Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) for CR, not only pledged to enlarge the platform but also came up with a comprehensive plan to expand the station and add more platforms in order to accommodate more passengers.

The next project at Dadar station is to turn platform 10 into a double discharge platform and this comes after slow line platform has been widened. According to a senior official, construction orders have been initiated by the Central Railway for the project, which aims to drastically reduce traffic on the current single-sided platform 10.

As part of the plan, the existing Dadar platform 10 will transform into a double discharge platform. This will disperse the congestion where the quick local trains and express trains heading towards Kalyan that leave Mumbai now stop. Passengers can board on any side as soon as the other platform is available to the public. At the moment, fence is around one half of the station.

Realigning already-existing utilities, such as stairwells, canteens, railroad structures, and footbridge ramps, is the first stage. Change in the position of the tracks and overhead cables will also take place. The total project cost to date is ₹1.88 crore.

The aim is to establish a dual platform, enabling passengers to board or disembark at both platforms 10 and 11. By doing this, platform 10 congestion will reduce, as all express trains will be able to utilise platform 11. It will separate the group of express trains carrying baggage. The masses on local and express trains will be effectively seperated by this division. (As per Mid-Day)
