‘BATMAN’ is an abbreviation for “Be Aware TTEs Manning At Night.” It is a new initiative by the WR to combat the issue of ticketless travel that is rampant among train travellers. It has already made a significant impact and even commuters feel safer.

Hence, WR has undertaken an all-night ticket-checking drive. According to an article which was recently published by The Free Press Journal or FPJ, close to 100 Travelling Ticket Examiners or TTEs are part of the squad.

The initiative commenced on the intervening night of March 11 and 12. In the first two nights of operation alone, the BATMAN squad ended up catching more than two thousand passengers who were travelling without a ticket.
