The Indian Railways have been making headlines since the last few days. They have started 392 new trains for the festive season, and now they are adding 610 more special suburban services in Mumbai to avoid crowding amid the Covid-19 pandemic. New Trains Added On Central & Western Lines
The 610 new suburban trains will be added to the fleet of 1,410 already existing services bringing the total number of trains to 2020. There are 314 services on the Central Railway Route in addition to the 706 services and. Besides, 296 new trains have been added on the Western Railway routes in addition to existing 704 services. Passengers will have to ensure all the COVID-19 protocols and maintain social distancing.
25% Passengers Can Travel As Compared To The Pre-Covid Times
Recently, the Maharashtra Government also proposed to allow the general public on Mumbai locals during non-peak hours. However, the Railways, said that to maintain social distancing, it can only carry 25% of the usual number of commuters as compared to pre-Covid times.
