Mumbai Metro Line-9 Will Reduce Travel Time By 50% to 75%, Likely To Start In 2024

Phase one of the Mumbai Metro Line-9 is expected to be operational by next year. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has begun the construction of the new Metro Line-9 corridor, which will connect Mumbai to Mira-Bhayander. Because the new line will connect these locations, traffic on the Dahisar toll road is expected to be reduced, making travel easier for people.

Mumbai Metro Line-9 Will Reduce Traffic

The Dahisar toll naka is the vital entry point, and people are always stuck in the congested traffic here. This 10.58-km-long route will surely help in reducing the congestion and thus the traffic.

There will be two interchange metro stops on this line: the first is at Dahisar (E), where there will be an interchange for the Metro-7 and Metro-2A routes from Gundavali to Dahisar (E). The second interchange with Metro Line 10 is at the Miragaon metro stop (Gaimukh to Shivaji Chowk).

The current travel time is expected to be reduced by 50% to 75% with this Mumbai Metro Line-9.This project will be completed in two phases. The first phase will be from Dahisar (E) to Kashigaon, and the second phase will be further ahead, until Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium. The line might get further extended until Uttan, where the search for an alternative land for a car shed is being conducted.

Residents Of Mira Road And Kashimira Can Travel Hassle-Free

An MMRDA official said that even though the first phase starts in Kashigaon, many people will be benefited by it. This is because Mumbai Metro Line-9 will be connecting to Line-7. Residents of Mira Road and Kashimira can also travel hassle-free, as they can travel to Andheri using the existing lines 2A and 7 of the Mumbai Metro. The traffic congestion at Dahisar check naka is very frustrating for all the motorists.

To open the first phase of this line, they might require at least 3 to 4 rakes initially. The completion of the entire corridor is given a deadline of December 2025.
