This reel by Mumbai Police elaborates on an easy trick to discover a faulty auto-rickshaw meter and understand how drivers are asking hefty fares from passengers. Most commuters are unaware of this major issue and the solution to resolve this obstacle. Well, there is one convenient trick to understand while looking for an improperly functional auto-rickshaw meter.
It is common for meters to display a decimal in the fare section. This point does not blink. However, if you see a point flickering at the end of the digits, you have encountered a faulty meter. This flickering point establishes that the meter installed on an auto-rickshaw is charging faster than usual. Commuters have no other option but to pay the asked fares to reach their destinations.
Mumbai Police took to the reel’s comment section and shared that they have taken legal action against the driver. The official steps against such individuals include cancelling their permits, seizing their vehicles, and filing an FIR. “Legal action has been initiated against the auto driver which includes registration of FIR, seizure of his vehicle and the cancellation of the permit,” wrote Mumbai Police.

More About The Blinking Point On A Meter
The additional point at the end of the fare is not found on a normally functioning auto-rickshaw meter. The video recorder asks the auto driver to turn off the meter. It clearly shows how the glimmering point becomes invisible. It displays once again after turning the meter on.
