Mumbai To Have Two More Metro Lines This Year

Mumbai local is definitely the city’s lifesaver when it comes to transport. Mumbaikars! We have great news for you on the same lines ( pun intended) Mumbai will have two more metro lines this year. Those of you who use Mumbai’s only line from Versova to Ghatkopar are often left impressed by its ease of commute. Two more corridors will be open in the city this 2020. Ab yeh hua na Happy New year!

What’s In It?

By this October 2020, Meto line 2A DN Nagar to Dahisar and Metro 7 Andheri to Dahisar will be open. This project has already been in progress for four years. And finally, it will be completed and open to the public. When these two metro lines start functioning, SV Road congestion is likely to have less traffic congestion and take the load off roads.

And that’s not all, SCLR extension till Western Express, Kalanagar Junction, and BKC-Vakola elevated road will also see the light of day. These road projects in Mumbai will help to ease traffic in the BKC area which is a bustling commercial hub.

What’s More?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2019 had laid the foundation stone for three metro lines in Mumbai. He had stated that this project was undertaken so that by 2024 the Mumbai metro will carry more passengers than Mumbai local. He had stated that the projects would facilitate a boost to the metro infrastructure of the city and lead to a safer, faster and better commute experience for every Mumbaikar.

The Prime Minister had informed the public during this time that projects worth ₹20,000 crore rupees had been initiated in Mumbai and ₹1.5 lakh crore had already been invested in Mumbai metro. He further stated that metro lines, Metro Bhavan and new facilities at various metro cities in Mumbai, will give the city a new dimension and make lives easier for Mumbaikars.
