A woman recently took to Instagram to share her serendipitous encounter with the owner of Mumbai’s iconic ice cream spot, K. Rustom & Co., and the internet simply can’t get enough of it.

Imagine heading to your favourite ice cream spot and casually sharing a cab with a woman who happens to be going the same way. As you begin talking and the chat flows, you discover something unbelievable: the woman you’ve been happily talking to is actually the owner of the iconic ice cream shop you’re on your way to visit! That’s exactly what happened to Anshika Tripathi, who had stepped out to enjoy her beloved K. Rustom ice cream, only to end up meeting the legendary owner herself in the most unexpected and heartwarming way.

In her post, @anssshhhhika shared, “So, I offered her a cab seat as she was also heading towards the same place, K. Rustom, on a lazy Saturday eve. Sooner she started talking about town and marines, while I shared my love for K Rustom ice creams on the days I want to feel home. Until I asked “I really prefer sitaphal, which one do you prefer?” & she said, “OH DARLING I’M THE OWNER.”

What followed was an even more surreal experience! “The moment we reached she held my hand and took me inside, made me meet everyone there, and offered me her favourites with the stories behind the recipe,” Anshika shared in her post. In the video, the owner can be seen warmly welcoming her, offering a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the iconic shop, far away from the long queues outside.

Located on Veer Nariman Road in Mumbai, K. Rustom & Co. is one of the city’s most legendary ice cream spots, having opened its doors in 1953. Famous for its old-school ice cream sandwiches, the place draws huge crowds even late at night, with people lining up for their iconic treats. Best enjoyed sandwiched between two crisp wafer biscuits, the ice cream here hits nostalgia like no other!
