Dining With The Kapoors: Junglee Mutton To Truffle Dal, Here’s What Their Khandaan Brunch Looks Like

In Dining With The Kapoors, the newest show on Netflix, food isn’t just a supporting actor; it is the emotional glue binding generations of the Kapoor clan. The entire meal shown in the special is cooked by Armaan Jain, who doesn’t just produce and host the show but also steps into the kitchen as its chef.  The menu he prepares is deeply rooted in his grandmother, Krishna Raj Kapoor’s handwritten recipes, and mirrors years of tradition, family stories, and legacy.

The Generous Menu At Dining With The Kapoors

The spread is generous and richly varied: junglee mutton takes you back to the gamey flavours of old Kapoor gatherings, while the mutton yakhni pulao, fragrant rice cooked in a spiced meat broth, offers comfort and depth. Chicken curry brings a familiar warmth, and for those seeking vegetarian indulgence, there’s silky paneer makhani alongside a refined truffle dal that Armaan himself developed as a creative spin on their traditional dal makhani.

Paya also makes an appearance, deliciously cooked trotters steeped in fragrant spices, and alongside it a tangy dahi pakoda kadhi, where crisp fritters float in a yoghurt-based curry, adding playful texture to the table.

To complement the gravies, there are humble yet beloved staples: chilke wala aloo (potatoes cooked with the skin on) brings a charming simplicity, and to scoop up all that richness, there are layered breads such as light-as-air malabari parathas and soft, buttery lachha parathas. Soft brun pav rolls make their way onto the table too, ideal for tearing and dipping, while steamed rice serves as a neutral canvas against the heavier dishes. And, the show peeps into nostalgia and desipan by finishing many of these dishes with generous drizzles of ghee, a loving homage to Krishna Kapoor’s cooking philosophy.

Armaan’s vision for the food comes from a deeply personal place: he never got to meet his grandfather Raj Kapoor, but he grew up hearing about him through stories from his grandmother and mother and through the meals they shared.

By putting together this gathering in a warm and unscripted home setting, he captures the Kapoor family in a way that feels real. As the creative producer Tarun Mansukhani reflects, as soon as the food arrived, the pretence dropped, and what remained was the Kapoor family at their most genuine: talking, teasing, laughing, all around a table loaded with meaning, memory, love, and lots of desi khaana.
