Cantina brings the comfort, chaos, and big-hearted flavours of Italian-American cooking straight to BKC. The vibe is casual but upbeat, with an all-day bar and a playlist that swings from pop to Italo-disco without warning. Chef Anthony Burd keeps things fun, generous, and completely unpretentious with crunchy mozzarella sticks, crispy calamari, and New York–style pizzas made with 48-hour fermented dough. The fresh pastas keep things soulful with favourites like Mushroom Bolognese and soft, herb-bright Gnocchi Pesto. Cantina also has one of the most playful cocktail menus in the city. Called ‘No Work Ethics,’ it’s designed for people who want to ignore the clock and have a good time.

2. OJU

OJU is a chic, modern, Japanese-forward dining room tucked inside Neuma’s historic bungalow, but with a global personality. It’s a stylish blend of Japanese craftsmanship, global influences, and cocktails that take their job very seriously. Chef Moh and Chef Nitin create a menu that is delicate but bold, comforting but surprising. Expect seaweed salad with yuzu goma, silky tofu carpaccio, tuna tataki that melts on the tongue, and maki rolls with just the right amount of heat. Their robata grill dishes, especially the Miso Black Cod and Hokkaido Scallops, are absolute stars. The cocktail menu is inspired by Japanese-Peruvian drinking cultures, moving from light to dark like the phases of the moon.

Houdini is not just a restaurant, it’s a playful escape. Inspired by the legendary magician, the space promises an evening filled with illusion, drama, and a sense of stepping into another world. Everything inside feels a little mysterious, a little glamorous, and a lot of fun. The food leans into the idea of “culinary illusion,” with options like Kashmiri Paya Shorba, an éclair-inspired samosa, Maharashtrian mezze, seafood seekh, and more. The mains are indulgent, with dishes like Lobster Thermidor and Flying Khow Suey. The cocktails bring real theatre to the table. Drinks like Midnight Oracle (a purple vodka cocktail) and The Houdini’s Potion (whisky, passionfruit, curry leaves, foam) immediately stand out.

Suma offers a culinary journey inspired by the Grand Trunk Road and the flavours that travelled across Arabia, Persia, Afghanistan, and North India. The food is rooted in two worlds: earthy North Indian richness and fragrant Arabic warmth. You’ll find kebabs with harissa labneh, Mughlai grills cooked over charcoal, creamy hummus paired with smoked aubergine, saffron-laced biryanis, and dishes like Palak Patta Chaat, Morabadi Dal, and Raat ki Beli Kebab that connect history with indulgence. Desserts like rose-pistachio baklava and kheer with a brûléed top are the perfect ending. Suma’s cocktail book, Madhushala, takes inspiration from Indian poetry and emotions, with options like the cashew-foam topped Navras or the aromatic Nawaabi Raat.

Luna Et Sol is more of a fantasy world, inspired by the French Alps and powered by cutting-edge immersive technology. The space remains cool at 18°C, instantly giving you that alpine freshness. Then come the wooden beams, the fireplace, hand-carved details, and shawls placed on every seat to complete the illusion. The real magic, however, is in the giant arched windows that show snowfall, sunsets, star-filled skies, and seasonal landscapes. The food celebrates European classics, offering buttery risottos, rustic braises, Alpine cheeses, elegant salads, and a Basque cheesecake that melts like a dream. Their cocktails are themed around the planets: Mercury comes served in a black sphere with whiskey and beetroot; Venus is soft and romantic; Mars is fiery; Earth is soothing and green.

With murals inspired by Malayan jungles and hints of Indian motifs, The Penang Table beautifully mirrors the cultural crossover on the plate. Head Chef Mitesh Rangras draws from Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences to create dishes that hit sweet, spicy, sour, and salty notes all at once. From hearty soups like Asam Laksa and chicken rassam to cold plates featuring coconut, hamachi, and pomelo, the flavours feel familiar yet exotic. Their signature dumplings, satays, roti specials, and chargrilled plates, especially the Banana Leaf Grilled Fish, are deeply satisfying. The cocktails, infused with pandan, lemongrass and kaffir lime, are refreshing companions rather than scene-stealers.

Where: 1st Floor, VN Sphere Mall, Linking Rd, Bandra West, Mumbai
