After Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport, Mumbai is now all set to welcome its second international airport. After months of anticipation, the Navi Mumbai International Airport is finally close to opening, and the excitement is real. Since its inauguration in October, people have been eagerly waiting for flight tickets to go live, updates on airline operations, and more. So here’s all the key information you need to know.
Ticket Bookings Live For Navi Mumbai Airport
Navi Mumbai airport was inaugurated in October 2025, and now it is finally gearing up for its first commercial flights on December 25. The new airport’s first phase can handle up to 20 million passengers a year. This will ease the load on the heavily crowded Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
According to NDTV Profit, the first airline to launch scheduled services from NMIA is Akasa Air. The airline has already opened bookings for four domestic routes—Ahmedabad, Goa, Kochi, and Delhi. The very first Akasa Air flight will fly from New Delhi to Navi Mumbai on December 25 at 5:25 AM. After the first flight, more flights will also roll out. Akasa Air will start flights to Goa on Christmas Day, followed by flights to Delhi and Kochi on December 26. Flights to Ahmedabad will begin on December 31. People can already book these routes on Akasa Air’s website or through major travel apps, with ticket prices starting at ₹5,122.
IndiGo Flights From NMIA
Other than Akasa Air, IndiGo has confirmed flights from NMIA on December 25, connecting the new airport to 10 Indian cities. These include Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, North Goa (Mopa), Jaipur, Nagpur, Kochi, and Mangaluru. IndiGo has also said it will continue adding more direct routes over time as operations grow.
Air India Express has also revealed that it will operate 20 daily flights to 15 destinations across the country, reported News18. Navi Mumbai International Airport is being seen as a major milestone for India’s aviation sector. It is one of the country’s biggest greenfield airport projects and has reportedly been built at a cost of ₹19,650 crore.
