Mumbai’s Byculla To Get A Stunning Cable Bridge With Themed-Lighting And Selfie Point

Byculla road over bridge (ROB), being a connecting link to the Eastern Express Highway, is one of the busiest bridges in Mumbai. Keeping the same in mind, BMC has collaborated with the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MahaRail) to construct a new cable-stayed bridge parallel to the existing ROB. This new addition is to ensure smooth traffic movement between CSMT and Dadar. The new cable bridge with its themed lighting and a selfie point will also be an eye-catcher in the city. However, the construction of the new bridge doesn’t mean the end of Byculla ROB. Keeping its historical importance in mind, the bridge will be renovated once the new Cable Bridge is ready to operate. Read on to know more details about the new addition to Mumbai’s Byculla!

Mumbai’s Byculla Cable Bridge To Have Themed-Lighting And Selfie Point

Bridges look more beautiful with a little decor. And looks like BMC and MahaRail are totally aware of the same. According to reports, the upcoming Mumbai Byculla Cable Bridge will be a symmetrical cable-stayed bridge with a single central pylon and four lanes. The bridge will also have a selfie point and will be installed with signature theme-based lighting all over. The Byculla Cable Bridge project is a part of the MoU signed between the BMC and MahaRail. The MoU is signed for the re-construction of 10 ROBs and one road under a bridge in Mumbai. The construction of the new cable bridge is reported to be over by October 2023.

Reconstruction Of The Existing Byculla ROB

The construction of the new cable bridge will not lead to the demolition of the existing Byculla ROB. Keeping its historical importance in mind, the bridge will be renovated once the new Cable Bridge is ready to operate. The existing Byculla ROB is reported to have a total of three lanes after reconstruction. According to reports, authorities will remove over 120 roadside vendors at the century-old Sant Gadge market in Byculla in order to kick start the renovation process. 120 out of the 533 structures in the market will be affected during the renovation and 39 vendors will need to be shifted on first priority for pylon work, as per a TOI report. And keeping the livelihoods of the vendors in mind, BMC officials have already visited the site to decide on the process of shifting. Well, the reconstruction of the existing ROB and the construction of the new cable bridge with themed lighting and a selfie point, are eagerly anticipated by Mumbaikers!
