My First Taste Of European Bistronomy In Dubai Was At Publiq And Here’s How It Went

As a self-proclaimed foodie, I’m always on the hunt for new cuisines and creative techniques in the world of gastronomy. So when I heard about Publiq, a newly opened spot promising a fresh take on European bistronomy, I knew I had to check it out. Tucked inside Four Points by Sheraton on Sheikh Zayed Road, Publiq blends elevated flavours with a relaxed, social atmosphere—bringing a unique dining concept to one of Dubai’s busiest hubs. I went in with an open mind (and an empty stomach), ready to see if it lived up to the hype. Here’s everything you need to know about my first experience.

A Vibrant Salad And Velvety Soup

I started my meal at Publiq with their vibrant Avocado and Honey Roasted Butternut Pumpkin salad. This salad was a rainbow of textures and colours, featuring a creamy green avocado, soft butternut squash, and a burst of sweetness with the pomegranate. Mixed greens, pine nuts, quinoa, and beetroot created a wholesome base, all tied together by a smooth honey mustard dressing and creamy ricotta cheese. It was a light yet satisfying way to begin. Accompanying the salad was a warm bowl of Mushroom soup infused with truffle, its rich, earthy flavour and velvety texture were a perfect complement to the fresh salad.

Seafood That Gets You Hooked From The First Bite

After the impressive starters, I delved into their Fruits de Mer offerings, and it was easily one of the highlights of my visit. The Prawns Cocktail was a refreshing surprise: plump prawns layered with creamy avocado, citrus-sweet potatoes, and a vibrant mix of tomato and white onion, all brought together by a zesty chifera sauce.

For a seafood lover, the Plateau Seaquake at Publiq is an absolute must-have. This impressive platter isn’t just a dish, it’s an experience: fresh oysters, plump prawns, tender mussels, and a decadent king crab leg, all artfully arranged and served with a tangy mignonette and sweet remoulade. This platter is perfect for sharing, with numerous options to choose from, especially if you’re looking to start your meal with a bit of indulgence. It’s bold, briny, and beautifully done, ideal for anyone who enjoys their seafood fresh, chilled, and expertly paired.

Hearty Meets Haute Cuisine

For the main course at Publiq, I started with a succulent, roasted half-baby chicken, which was a testament to the art of haute cuisine, making it a dish that was full of flavours thanks to its French cooking techniques. The chicken had just the right amount of crispiness on the outside and was soft and succulent inside. Golden, crisp new potatoes and a velvety, umami-rich mushroom reduction, along with vibrant broccolini, added a refined, verdant contrast. The Fettuccine featured a creamy mix of wild mushrooms, leeks, and chicken, topped with parmesan for a rich, satisfying taste. Then came the Seared Salmon with its flaky texture and vibrant sides of grilled asparagus, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted bell peppers, and potatoes topped with a smooth dill butter sauce that added a fresh, aromatic touch.

A Trio Of Flavours In One Cheesecake

To conclude the meal on a sweet note, there was the classic Publiq’s House Cheesecake, with three choices of toppings: chocolate, raspberry, or blueberry. I chose the blueberry, with its bright, fruity contrast to the rich, creamy texture of the cheesecake. The crust was perfectly baked, buttery with just the right amount of crunch, making for a satisfying base to the velvety filling.
