The traditional diet of the Naga people in India’s northeast is known as “Naga cuisine.” The cuisine is prepared in a distinctive manner by each ethnic group. Rice, meats, and leafy vegetables are the main ingredients. They frequently smoke, dry, or ferment their meat.

The primary source of carbohydrates for the Naga people is rice, which is produced in large quantities in this area as well as in other states, where it is also imported. In Naga cooking, dried or smoked meat is a crucial component that also serves as a practical food source for farmers, foragers, and hunters.

In fact, smoked meat is frequently preserved for an entire year. Wild forage and cooked edible organic leaves, make up a sizable portion of the diet in many regions.
