Nagpur-Indore IndiGo Flight Gets Delayed By 3 Hours; Airlines Offered Expired Biscuits To Passengers

Passengers on an IndiGo Airlines flight from Nagpur to Indore experienced a morning filled with frustration and shock on Saturday. Scheduled to depart at 8:45 am, the flight was delayed for nearly three hours due to operational issues, a common but unpleasant inconvenience for travellers. However, what escalated the situation was not just the lengthy delay but the discovery that the snacks provided to passengers during the wait were expired.

The flight was originally scheduled to depart at 8:45 am but was delayed by approximately three hours due to operational issues. Such delays, while frustrating, are not entirely uncommon. Airlines often make efforts to ease the passengers’ discomfort with compensatory measures. In this case, IndiGo Airlines reportedly handed out biscuits to the passengers while they waited for their flight.

However, this attempt to pacify the travellers backfired. According to Times of India reports, several passengers discovered that the biscuits had expired a month earlier. Many had already consumed the snacks before realising this alarming fact.

Several passengers voiced their concerns and demanded an explanation. They were understandably upset, not just because of the flight’s delay, but because they felt that their health had been compromised. Indigo staff were faced with an increasingly enraged crowd.

IndiGo Airlines’ manager at Indore Airport, Vipin Sharma, addressed the incident after the flight finally landed. According to the Times of India, he confirmed that the delay had been due to technical reasons and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the passengers. However, he claimed to not know the specific food items served in Nagpur. Sharma said that as a kind of compensation for the wait, the travellers were given a choice of food and drinks when they arrived in Indore.

Even though the airline tried to compensate passengers with snacks as a courtesy, the mistake of serving biscuits that had gone bad left them feeling angry. The incident demonstrated how minor mistakes in customer service can quickly escalate into more serious problems. Even though IndiGo tried to make apologies after landing, travellers felt as though their basic needs were ignored.
