Kerala-based travel services operator Alhind Group has received a significant boost in its ambition to enter the aviation sector. CNBC TV 18 reported that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted the group the Air Operator Certificate (AOC), marking a major step towards the launch of their new airline, Alhind Air. The company is now preparing to commence operations by the end of this year.
Alhind Group To Launch Alhind Air
Alhind Group is making a substantial investment to kick-start Alhind Air. The airline will begin its journey with an initial fleet of three ATR-72 turboprop planes. The group has earmarked an investment between ₹200 crore and ₹500 crore for this phase of the project. Plans are in place to expand the fleet to five ATR planes, which will initially service regional routes.
The proposed routes for Alhind Air will focus on connecting key southern cities in India. Starting from Cochin, the airline will link Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, and Chennai. This regional focus will enable Alhind Air to build a strong presence in the southern part of the country before expanding further.
Ambitious Plans For The Long Term
According to reports by CNBC TV18, the group has secured all necessary support from Cochin International Airport for its operations. This backing is crucial as it ensures the airline will have the infrastructure and facilities needed to start and maintain its flights efficiently. Alhind Air will aim to increase its fleet and expand its network, both domestically and internationally.
In the long term, Alhind Air has ambitious plans. Within two years of launching, the airline aims to grow its fleet to over 20 planes. This expansion will facilitate the introduction of international flights, allowing Alhind Air to tap into global markets. The group is currently in discussions with leasing companies for ATR and narrow-body aircraft, and is also in talks with major aircraft manufacturers like Airbus and Boeing for future purchases.

This structured approach to recruitment highlights the group’s commitment to ensuring that Alhind Air operates with high standards of professionalism and efficiency.
