New Bridges, Walkway To Ease Traffic Near Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall is the world’s biggest mall and is one of the most-visited attractions in the city; and why not- after all it is home to the majestic Burj Khalifa, the Dubai fountain and the underwater aquarium and the zoo. However, ask anyone living in Dubai and they’ll have a nightmare story to narrate about their drive to Dubai mall. Well, such is the traffic on the road leading to the mall. Well, but the good news is, getting to Dubai Mall will soon be a walk in the park! The RTA has announced the launch of new bridges that will help cut congestion around the mall.

What’s It?

Motorists heading to Dubai mall next month will be able to drive through a new bridge, thanks to RTA’s new initiative. In an effort to minimize traffic and reduce congestion in Downtown and surrounding areas, two new bridges will be opened in the mall. One of the new bridges, connect the entry and exit points of the Financial Centre Street with the cinema parking at The Dubai Mall. The other bridge connects to the new Zabeel parking building. The new bridges will be open to the public from October 29, 2019.

The first bridge, linking the Mall’s cinema parking with the upper level of Financial Centre Street, is the final stages of construction. The second one is expected to extend from the parking towards Jumeirah Sheikh Zayed Road. Besides, there will also be a footbridge linking the parking with the Dubai Mall.

Confirming the news on the RTA’s official Twitter account, HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, said: “bridges leading to entry/exit points of The Dubai Mall Zabeel multi-level parking building would be opened on Tuesday October 29, 2019.”

What Else?

The opening of the bridge will streamline traffic heading towards Financial Centre Street. Besides, it will also ease congestion at crucial junctions leading towards Mohammad Bin Rashid Boulevard. In addition, the new bridges will also increase vehicle capacity on the road.
