Abu Dhabi is undergoing a remarkable transformation, with several ambitious projects reshaping its cityscape and reinforcing its status as a global hub for innovation, culture, and luxury. These developments enhance the architectural landscape and contribute to the city’s economic growth and international appeal. Here are six new projects in Abu Dhabi that are set to redefine its skyline and offer exciting opportunities for residents and visitors alike.

1 . Zayed National Museum

The Zayed National Museum on Saadiyat Island, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Lord Norman Foster, is one of Abu Dhabi’s most eagerly awaited projects. Dedicated to the UAE’s history and culture, it will honour Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s values with engaging exhibits and public spaces for learning. Part of the Saadiyat Cultural District, it is set to open in 2025.

2. Harry Potter World

Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi will captivate the Middle East with its inaugural Harry Potter-themed park. Visitors can expect a magical journey through famous locations like Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, and Hogwarts, featuring mind-boggling rides and attractions. Although the opening date is not confirmed, anticipation mounts for this captivating adventure.

3. Velodrome

Velodrome Abu Dhabi will open in 2025 and be the region’s first UCI Category 1 indoor cycling track. With its unique rooftop track and a 600-meter cycling incline, this velodrome offers a thrilling cycling experience and breathtaking views of Hudayriyat and the Abu Dhabi skyline. It can host international championships, enhancing the city’s sports landscape.

4. Natural History Museum

Set to open by the end of 2025, the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi in Saadiyat Cultural District will showcase notable exhibits such as ‘Stan,’ the Tyrannosaurus rex, and the Murchison Meteorite, alongside other rare exhibits. It aims to inspire a fascination with the natural world through its visionary scientific research facility. Its expansive galleries designed by Mecanoo to resemble natural rock formations spanning over 35,000 sqm.

5. Guggenheim

Architect Frank Gehry designed the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, set to complete in 2025 at Saadiyat Cultural District. It will showcase global and contemporary art, highlighting West Asia, North Africa, and South Asia (WANASA). The museum’s innovative architecture cultivates an environment that encourages diversity and inclusion through educational programming and community outreach initiatives.

6. Hudayriyat Urban Park

Hudayriyat Urban Park spans 2.25 million sqm and is a major parkland in Abu Dhabi. It features an elevated cycling track, mangrove walk and  eco-farming space. Also includes food outlets, playgrounds, and an events valley, offering a perfect combination of nature and leisure. Luxurious residential areas and pristine beaches further enhance its appeal.

From the anticipated Zayed National Museum to the Velodrome, each project promises to elevate the city’s appeal with innovation and culture. The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and expansive Hudayriyat Urban Park further enrich the city’s offerings, making Abu Dhabi a dynamic global hub for residents and visitors alike.
