Head to Dubai’s only ‘night swimming beach’, Umm Suqeim 1 Beach, that allows visitors to enjoy swimming till midnight. Previously swimming past sunset was not allowed in the UAE due to safety issues. Dubai has become the first emirate in the UAE to allow nighttime swimming, with the installation of two smart power poles on Umm Suqeim 1 Beach. Eng. Alia Al Harmoudi, Director of Environment Department at Dubai Municipality said “The smart poles are equipped with digital screens to display marine warnings in case of sea disturbance. The texts of the marine warnings and the colors of the flags usually flying on the beaches to warn the swimmers will be scrolled on the screens.
