Kerala’s Kannur, Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts were placed under Orange Alert due to the expected heavy rainfall. Heavy rains earlier on Wednesday uprooted large trees in several regions of the state, destroying homes and vehicles, downing power lines, and the hours-long traffic backups caused by the uprooted trees.

Numerous districts experienced home damage due to the persistent rain that had been falling since the previous evening. With the possibility of landslides and heavy rainfall in the coming days, tourists will also not be allowed to enter Ponmudi Hills and other hilly and coastal regions.

The incessant rainfall is resulting in a lot of destruction in the state.
